RE: RC: RE: Women and endurance in the UAE
"They" is a pretty tricky word when you are dealing with a variety of
cultures. Here in Egypt, female endurance riders wear tights and a long
t-shirt with paddock boots and half chaps as a rule, for the heat. If they
wear a headscarf, it's usually a lightweight cotton and the helmet slides
over it. No big deal at all. If we aren't into headscarves, then it's tights
and t-shirts with paddock boots, unless you are some skinny little thing, in
which case you look for the heaviest clothing you can find that is wearable
to offset your weight allowance.
Show jumpers look like show jumpers world over...but maybe again would wear
a tidy chiffon scarf under a helmet that matches the helmet or shirt or
something. Most of us womenriders in the Middle East basically look a whole
lot like everyone else....dusty boots, muddy pants and green smeared
t-shirts. <G>

Do they wear jods underneath their robes or what would their riding attire
be? I assume they have strict rules when it comes to riding clothes for the
women as well - also the showjumping attire?
