Re: Re: hunting season
Lucie,
I live in the Francis Marion Forest, just south of you. Have a need for
advise. I am from rural areas and know how to "talk" the local language.
However, I moved here from Johns Island, married, and discovered lots of
dirt roads behind our property to ride on. First years went great; had
permission from president of hunting club for certain days and aside from
deer and turkey season, sould ride any day. Now, that person is out of the
loop, and 3 clubs hunt there instead of one. So, I stay out of there,
totally, from Aug. 15 to Jan. 2 and for the month of turkey season. How do
you go about negotiating permission to use privately owned lands? Butts up
against land owned by Mepkin Abbey, Monestary, and Westvaco, paper company.
Any advise would be soooo appreciated....DeeDee and I are getting so dizzy
on our 1 mile trail....which, by the way, we have to "duck" hunters on Wed.
Fri. and Sat. practically "in my yard"! Arg! Their dogs are run thru here,
my Dobermans want to eat them for lunch!! (I can work with these guys!
Advise on the clubs:)
Thank you
Beth Gunn
