NO booties needed ???

When I first saw television coverage of dogs working at the WTC disaster
site, I was dumbfounded that the dogs did not seem to be wearing booties --
knowing that the debris would cut their paws to shreds.

I have since heard that an appeal for booties has been rescinded, because a
manufacturer of this equipment has supplied all that they need.

I've sent an e-mail to the ASPCA asking whether or not booties are still
needed.  I'll post to the list as soon as I hear from them.  I'd hate for
the SPCA in NYC to be flooded with dog booties if what they really need is
support to care for animals abandoned in lower Manhattan.
