I am a current member of NATRC. So far, all the timed rides I've ridden
have been NATRC.
I think it's a great place to learn how to care for a distance horse.
Their emphasis is on a distance horse that is also able to do obstacles and
be handled safely by anyone.
I fully intend to go on to do endurance. In the mean time, I'm learning how
to care for my horse on and off the trail, learning about high-density horse
camping (!!!), and how to travel long distances while still caring for my
horse.
Right now, I'm not up to a one-day-fify-miler and neither is my horse.
But maybe in a year or two we'll both be ready.
Some people just stay in NATRC and that's fine.
It's not like you must belong to one and not the other.
I know people who are endurance riders who would never even consider riding
a NATRC ride. Their loss.
Learn where you can, folks.
