Jerri,
I think you can grow garlic in pots?  We just let some bunches from the
grocery store age just enough to get this little button looking thingie on
the bottom of the bulb.  Then break off and plant the button.  Ususally
along the fence so we won't mow them over!
They grow like weeds.  and harvest after flowering is finished.  Takes the
entire season, but the bunches you harvest should have the button.  So, as
you pull the bunch, break off button, drop into hole and cover for next
year!  Recycleing and plenty of fresh garlic!
We use Source micronutrients for dogs for both the dogs and horses.  Get it
from Jeffers Pet.  Called Source Plus.  Also has brewers yeast, zinc, and
vit E.  Powder form, and just a tsp or so on food with warm water to mix.
