Re: Re: cancer and greys
Kathy,
"Sarcoid"!!! That is the word I've thinking
of and too lazy to look it up in the vet manual:) What my sister's bay
mare had in her ears. Not malignant? yes?
So what do the bad ones look like?
Post from Tony re: human melanomas...have know
quite a few folks here that have had skin cancer removed, etc...ears, nose,
neck, etc...little places off backs, shoulders, hands, arms. I really feel
this has so much to do with diet as well. Don't know much. Just one
of those "brain tickler" things and something We Can Do something
about!!!

Is
this an over the counter drug? Also, I guess we have to differentiate
what is a benign melanoma and what is a sarcoid.
K.
Lorna,
What is cimetidine? Glad for your
guy! I also want to know if anyone has experienced these things with
non-greys. As my sister had a bay marewith large ooky ones in her
ears, and my chestnut mare has small bump under skin on neck near crest (
never changes:)). Did your vet do any biopsies to ID them?

I have a 17 yr. old
grey arab gelding who has had 3 melanomas for quite a
while, they
hadn't changed for 2 yrs., recently he started getting quite a
few sm.
ones. Some were under his mane, but mostly under his tail & all pretty
small. My vet. told me to try Cimetidine (Tagament), I use the
generic
brands(cheaper!) Any-way, the small ones are all gone , the
older ones
haven't changed & there are no new ones!!!!! Pretty
amazing!!!!
