NORCO BC FROM ONE THAT WAS CONSIDERED
debbie ekhaml dekarab@home.com
Hi Ridecampers,
My horse and I came in at the dreaded #11 slot in the
50, however we got to show for BC due to a pull. I support the
decision made by Fred and Hugh. Unfortunately, they were off
treating horses when our time came to show for BC. Our final was done by
a wonderful vet, Rebecca, that always pitches in to help when she is done
her ride. My horse had straight A's all day from a different vet at each
check. He did have 1 B+ on guts at the lunch check. In fact, at VC1 Hugh
told me his heart rate was really low and I should pick up the pace as he
was the best horse he had seen. As I was already trying to hold him to
the speed of light, and sponsoring a junior, I opted to not do that!
Although his trot out did look good, his CRI was a little
elevated at 15/16. Also, I think we finished over an hour behind first
place. He looked really perky at dinner and drug me around camp the next
morning. I still think the vets made a great decision. This was the
first time I got to show for BC in
a 50 (and although we have won several at the LD distance) I
considered it a thrill and honor just to be recognized. There will be
many more rides! Thanks to the hard-working Vet staff at the Norco ride
for taking the high road and we'll see you at the next one! Debbie and
Razal
