Re: RC: RE: Arabs to slaughter
I am reminded of another slaughterhouse horse that came from my neck of
the woods many, many, many years ago. He to went on to higher and grander
things than his start on life as a plow horse. I am sure that Red will go
down in history just like one other slaughterhouse horse called Snowman.
His story still brings a tear to my eye. It has been many, many years
since I have read the book. He was bought at the end of the day off the
slaughter truck to be a lesson horse. His natural talent (and love for
the neighbor's vegetable garden) led to a world record (I believe it has
been a long time) high for indoor stadium jumping.(if anyone knows the
story better than I, please correct me.)
I have been to the New Holland Sales Stables lots of Mondays growing
up. That is where Snowman was bought. I have seen the horses go through
the ring. How I wanted to buy each and everyone of them and take them
home. I am hoping someday to have enough acres, and money to do rescue
work. That is a long time coming, but it is a dream that I have. I have
fallen in love with Arabians, and I want to do what I can to help these
noble creatures that despite the torment and cruelty can still be so
docile and loving.
I applaud those who have rescued these magnificent creatures! May we
keep being amazed a what out beloved friends can do!
In His Hands,
Lisa P.
