Re: RC: Generator vs Inverter
Our HONDA 3000 INVERTER runs on unleaded gasoline (3 and one half gallons
will produce power for 22 hours)......Unlike a generator, it puts out the
amount of power needed (a generator will run full bore to power just a 60
watt lightbulb). We have a solar panel on our trailer and I recall at Bryce
Canyon (on about the third day of rain) I had "energy issues" (with the
trailer)<g>...so, it was either buy a bigger solar panel or find an
alternative.
The inverter is invaluable around the ranch...and on endurance rides, it
provides enough energy to power A/C, microwave and the rest of the living
quarters.
As a matter of fact, during a recent power outage (due to a lightning
strike), we used it to run the lights, fridge, freezer and stove in the house.
I don't understand the technology, but I can put gasoline in it and plug
stuff in.
    Frank.
