The Article this month does not use that research study. It also said that
horses move the sand out by themselves. Horses could move as much as one
pound of sand out in a day or two on their own. This article was written by
Karen Hayes, DVM.
An aside...I do lots of lower bowel studies for treatment of colon Ca in
humans. The people who drink metamucil on a daily basis are very hard to get
a clean gut on. That stuff just goos up the works and it seems like it does
more harm than good.
There are lots of articles lately on psyllium and sand-I suggest if you have
sand issues that you read up on it and ask your local vet. Most articles say
that psyllium won't hurt your horse-I can think of other ways to spend the
money rather than psyllium.
