Adjustable rigging / Desoto Saddles

Hi all,

I have a Desoto saddle on order (can't wait!) and am wondering if I
should change my order to an adjustable rigging, rather than the standard.

My mare has well sprung ribs, and this causes girths to always move
forward up into her armpits. I read once that using girths that are set
back farther, like center-fire or whatever, makes the problem even
*worse*, since they slide forward into the armpits anyway, resulting in
the saddle sitting too far forward after a while. Is this true?

I test-rode a Desoto with standard rigging, and the girth didn't bother
my mare, although it did move right up into her armpits (like every
other girth on every other saddle I've owned has done).

I've never used a saddle with an adjustable rigging, so don't know if I
should get this option or not. Are they better or worse for my
situation? Also, how are they insofar as being under your leg?

Any advice in this area will be appreciated! I need to decide before
she starts on my saddle.

Thanks,
Jennifer
