ROFL!  It's amazing to me what folks DON'T teach their horses. You
should go out of way to find things like this to teach them. Shucks,
been me I would have asked for an off side mount. <grin> How about this
one...I was working on this with Sunny the other day:

A 12 foot pole (broomstick size) between two saw horses at just about
withers height on a horse. Rider must ride under the pole at one end,
picking up the pole and walking forward. Turn the horse's head UNDER the
pole and walk back, placing it on the sawhorse, then the horse must drop
his head and BACK out from under it.

Try it sometime....good control exercise....also useful when trail
clearing. You must teach your horse not only to drop his head from the
saddle, but to BACK with his head down.
