One little trick that works...used to use it as a kid when
we snuck the standardbred racehorses out to ride (those
were tough horses....raced by night on the track and by day
under saddle on the roads)..is to cross the reins under the
neck.  This way when you neck rein it actually pulls on
opposite side of the bit like side pulling and they learn
to neck rein at the same time.
