RE: Robert Duvalls casting call for his Civil War Movie
Having been involved in the Civil War Reenacting thing, I found that it is
the other way around. If you want to be a Yank you need to get the
uniforms, they had more consistent uniforms. The Confederates kinda came as
they are. But even in California it is harder to find Yanks, lots of guys
what to be Confederates. You do need to get a authentic gun no mater which
side your on. That can get expensive.
I was told by a Cavalry reenacter to keep your horse away from the
reenacting thing "If you value him". After watching these guys I can see
why, most of them have no clue how to ride and they got real swords and
things. I would not want my horse out there.
Jeb Stuart rode around the enemy a few times, the most famous was during the
Peninsula Campaign I believe. That was in Virginia.

Subject: RC: Robert Duvalls casting call for his Civil War Movie
This Saturday in
> Staunton, Virginia Robert Duvall has advertized he is looking for a
few good men that can ride for his upcoming Civil War Movie.
Don't know if it's the same up there, but down here if you want to be a
Civil War reinacter there's a double standard. If you want to be a
Confederate soldier you're required to have all authentic tack, uniform,
etc. etc. Many specifications. If you're willing to be a Yankee you
just have to show up. They have a hard time finding Yanks. >g< I think
it would be cool to have an endurance ride that reinacted Jeb Stuart's
ride around the enemy. Where did he do that anyway?
