Re: RC: Top Ten Tips???
I think that being consistent is more important than being fast. Just
don't fiddle around at water troughs, electrolyting, pit stops,
etc. Always be ready to go before your out time, don't be rushing at the
last second to get out......it just adds stress. The riders that top ten
easily are not always on the fastest horses, just the most
methodical. They get the job done by being consistent. Riders that go
fast, then slow, then fast....usually putter out by the end of a
ride. Keeping a consistent pace, even if it it's not a really fast one is
a lot easier on the horse. They settle in better if you ride them that way
and are less likely to get injured.
Pay attention to how you ride your ride. If you need to stop, do it next
to a spot of grass so your horse can munch.....always try to be
multi-tasking, if you have to wait for water, have your electrolytes ready
to go, or your sponge, etc.
