Melanomas

Are any of you doing any riding on horses with melanomas on their backs ? If
so are they causing any major problems ? I have a friend whose 3 year old
grey shagya gelding has 5 melanomas on him already , 3 in the wither area
and one on the neck and one on the inside of a hind leg . Right now they are
pretty small and she has looked into a treatment program which lasts for two
months treating them twice a day but is quite expensive to do so she is
wondering if it is even worth getting the colt started in endurance or not .
All suggestions are welcome  and I will pass them along to her as she is not
on ridecamp . Thanks guys
