Zebras

you were quite right in what you read about Zebras. There are distinct species : Thompsons, Burchell's, Grevy's and the Mountain Zebra. 

 

 

In SA, we have all but the Thompsons, with Burchell's being the most common.  They are incredible animals, with a very complex social system.  If you want to learn more about these wonderful animals, try to get hold of a National Geographic video called "Patterns in the Grass".
