I like geldings, but I know people who will only ride mares  because
of their "colorful personality".  I fight with my mare all the time,
love her to death, but I don't trust her enough to do endurance with
her so she's in broodmare mode.  But it's also a "redhead" issue!

My gelding has four pink hooves, and
they are definitely in better shape than my mare's with 3 black hooves.
Absolutely no problem with pink hooves.

The gelding I will be selling soon is an absolute sweetheart, really
smart and wanting to please.  He'll be under saddle sometime over
the next month (horse time, ya know) but he's going to be really easy.

Now that I've found my former-race horse/endurance prospects I'm just
mulling over some old, possibly prejudiced information while I wait for

to dry out enough for me to go do test rides.

I've only owned mares.  And fairly calm quarterhorse and appaloosa mares
at
that.   Now that I'm looking at 'hotter' arabs,  I'm thinking I should
look
primarily at geldings.

What's your preference for an endurance horse, mare or gelding?

And did anyone ever prove that hoof color was not connected to softness?
White hooves on all four feet aren't necessarily bad for an endurance
prospect arab, are they?
