Measuring saddle seat size (from Barb Peck)
Barb Peck bpeck@together.net
English seats and western seats are measured differently.
For english, the measuring tape is at angle, from the silver
button, or rivet just under the pomel, to the back of the seat.
For western the tapes straight, from just inside the pomel (just below the
horn if the saddle has one) to the back of the seat (but not including the
cheyenne roll if the seat has one).
A 17.5" english is about equivalent to a 15" western.
