Re: RC: Leases?
Rhonda, I would be VERY leery of letting one of my horses go to anyone who
wouldn't let me look at their place first. You don't know this woman at all,
and she expects you to trust her with your baby? With no written contract?
She must have something to hide, or an angle your not aware of. Any honest
person would not expect you to let them have your horse for a tryout without
a written contract. It's just the way business has to be done nowadays. The
woman could certainly come to your place, and try the mare out several times,
she could have a vet check done, she could have a trainer check the horse
out, any of the things that MOST cautious people would do. Sorry to be such
a pessimist, but I smell something rotten. Go with your gut, and don't let
your mare out of your sight without a comprehensive contract, that includes
the woman getting insurance, at least mortality, on the horse. You should
also take pictures of the horse and have a Vet examine her before she leaves
your possession. Protect your horse and yourself first! There are lots of
people out there who will take advantage if you give them a chance. jeri
