Title: Re: To break or not to break, tie downs and tie ups
I *knew* we'd get back into this fight! :)
I tie my horse with and to stuff that won't break (and buddy, we've tried)and ride in stuff that will break only in certain places (the roping reins I ride with are attached with brass clips that will break, as they have gotten tossed over my horse's head and interfered with his legs in a wreck before). I also ride with a Leatherman tool at every ride. Oh, and I *always* wear my helmet. :)
I'm very glad people have well trained horses. I'd like to think I have a fairly well trained horse that I can mostly trust.
However, I'm a pessimist. If there's not a wreck today, there will be someday. (No boom today. Boom tomorrow. There's always a boom tomorrow. --Ivaniva from Bab 5) It's inevitable. If I prepare for it, hopefully it won't be too bad.
I have yet to see a horse that I will trust 100%, 100% of the time. Accidents will happen and life is just to precious to rely on blind trust.
