Dear Kristen,

I was so sorry to hear about your horses' deaths from lightening. 
What an awful thing to come home to. I can't begin to imagine how you 
must feel.

  We get some amazing thunderstorms here in New England and one thing 
I read in Equus made sense and that is not to allow any puddles to 
form in the paddock since water attracts lightening. I had a couple 
of low spots and quickly filled them in. I also have trees in my 
paddock and worry about them but won't remove them. My guy usually 
stays inside his walk-in when it is storming. I guess I'm extemely 
lucky.
