I for one, am very glad you responded to my questions regarding Lyme.
As for 'terminating' this horse.  No worries.  She's a member of the family.  
This is the reason for all the anxiety.  

When you mentioned your horses, you didn't mention treatment.  Did you treat? 
 How and for how long?  If so, how soon after probable infection (if that can 
be known).
