Hi Jeri -
Sounds like a silage mix called Triticale. Peas are legumes, I imagine
horses will eat them, but that's about all I know about peas and horses. I
don't know if they are safe or not. Where do you live?

Mainly timothy, some alfalfa, some beardless barley, some oats and some pea
plants.
