Sue?)
Being
well experienced in the field of filing protests I would say that in this
particular case you would be wasting your $100. The procedure for filing is well
defined in the rules, in particular rule 15. Pay particular attention to rule
15.2 (d). "clear reference, by number, to each AERC rule or regulation allegedly
violated". This is where you will encounter great
difficulty.
Best
to voice your dissatisfaction publicly, engender much in-depth discussion on
line, attempt to get the "word" out to the alleged miscreant, and hope that it
does not happen again. In some ways this is a moral dilemma. The AERC has, correctly, shied away from regulating
personal interaction during rides. The Rules Committee has seen no good in
promulgating specific rules on personal actions. But these actions can cause
much dissention with in the ranks. Therefore it is up to these ranks of riders
to self police. Direst intervention of peers is the best way to
proceed.

I wasn't there, so don't think I'm the person to actually file a
protest.
But, if someone else who was there wants to write down what
happened and
submit it to the Protest Committee, I will front the $100
fee. Bob Morris
can tell me where to send it. It would be
worth it just to see a discussion
of it published in EN so people can
see this is not acceptable behavior.
Well, I was there. I didn't see the
mountain biker run off the trail, but I
WAS run off the trail. I'll
sign the protest. Show me where!
