Losing shoes in sand
Last Saturday went riding at Bodega Bay in the sand dunes. There is a very
nice 4-5? mile riding loop. The sand varies from just up to the coronary
band to past the pastern in depth. We were doing a lot of trotting with some
cantering thrown in. We don't ride for very long, normally about 1 1/4 - 1
3/4 hours, 2 hrs absolute max. Great workout, really gets the HR up there.
This will be the second time in the last two shoeings Wichita has lost his
right front shoe. Both times four weeks into shoeing. His rears are squared,
and shoer usually leaves only 1/4" or less at the branch of the heel. Using
St Croix eventers.
Any suggestions?
Thanks - Jeanne
