We did this several years ago.  It is a wonderful ride and I wish I was
going again!
Some things to consider:
ALL WEATHER:  Bring horseblankets, coverralls, shorts....
Expect no place to replinish supplies...or wash clothes!
Do everything you can to prevent scratches!
Many people suggested vinegar.
