RE: Compass
Standard time or daylight saving time. And which time zone and what part of
the time zone? Does this work at the south pole?

How about this: Your Watch as a Compass
Point the hour hand of the watch to the sun, and south is exactly half-way
between the hour and and the "12" on the watch; eg--assuming it is 9
o'clock, point the hour hand (indicating 9)to the sun, and the point
half-way between "10" and "11" is due south; or assume that it is 4 o'clock
and point the hour hand at the sun--the figure "2" indicated south.
Of course--it will only work during the day--and only if your watch is
running!
