Pyrethrins specifically attack the nervous system
of insects and cold-blooded critters, so just to agree with Kathy, pyrethrins
are okay around any warm-blooded animals. They *will* kill fish, so cover
the tanks in the house.
The other thing is that pyrethrins are a
direct-contact kill, they really don't have any residual effect despite what the
labels say. Any residual effect comes from other aromatic oils added and
that sort of thing.

commonly used insecticides in flea control products and is considered safe if
used according to directions. So
use it on your horses and don’t worry about your
cats.
