water tank advise needed

We are about to purchase a water tank for our ride.  Hoping to 
benefit from the experience of this group, I would appreciate any

What size works best?
Is it better to have the tank on a truck or on a trailer?
Where do you buy one?
What hose ends work best?
Are there any minor details I need to know now, rather than later?
