Re: RC: LYME DISEASE
David and Louise,
Where do you live? Here is southeastern Massachusetts, according to
my vet, there have been some horses who have gotten Lyme disease but
I'm not sure what their treatment was. I've been bitten twice by deer
ticks but was told by my doctor that the incidence of the disease in
this area is low so waited for a blood test to see if I had gotten
the disease. Both times I was negative. Early removal is important.
It is my understanding that the tick has to be attached for at least
24 hrs. to transmit the disease.
I'd be interested to hear what your horse's symptoms were.
