If you are using Outlook Express or Outlook for that matter there is an option to send email in plain text or HTML to whom ever you are sending e-mail to Ridecamp......etc.etc.

 

Also the comment about virus checks, if you have a good virus protection program it will automatically check all incoming  e-mail for viruses, and you can schedule your virus program when to check for updates and when to scan for viruses
