crupper help
Well I can really use some help on this one. I took
my mare on her first real hilly trail ride. We've been
doing mostly rolling stuff until now, with some short
hill work. The wild flowers were great, and we took
our time checking out every one of them. Anyway she's
still finding her down hill feet, so I have been
getting off and walking the really steep stuff. About
half way down I could see that my saddle was sliding
forward pretty bad. I reajusted it and got back on
for the rest of the ride. By that time the trail
wasn't as steeep. Now, I ride in a Stubben with a
brest collar, toklat wool pad with a stubben string
girth, but I have never used a crupper. So what kind
of crupper should I use? Has anyone had any
experience using that biothane T you put in the back
of your english saddle to attach a crupper to? It
makes a D ring for the crupper to clip to. Or should
I look into the one that attaches to the billets?
Also what do you think about the part of the crupper
that goes around the tail? Does anyone have any
suggestions about which one would be more comfortable
than another?
How should all this be adjusted? I know I have to get
my girl used to this thing before I ride her in it. I
sure don't want to be visiting gravity again. I'm
getting to old to be doing that one to many more
times. Any help for suggetions are greatly welcome.
Thanks for reading.
Happy Trails
Celeste
