RE: World Cup distance
A lot of the FEI rides in the Middle East are under 100 miles. One of the
FEI vets I talked to last year said that they weren't sure about the
fitness of the horses to do 100 miles at those speeds. They are also MUCH
pickier about the frequency of water stops at our rides. Our training rides
might go 10 miles between water and they will insist usually on 5 km.....but
we go A WHOLE LOT slower as a rule and our horses are still novices.

I was under the assumption that FEI sanctioned rides were of the 100 mile
distance, but I notice the World Cup in Dubai was 78 miles. Would other
international caliber rides also be under 100?
