COB Mix
Going one step further than Susan G?? Hmmm....
According to the food goddess:
**************************
25% corn, 45% whole oats, 30% barley.
As long as the teeth are in good shape, none of the grains need to be
processed in any way---what very little increase you get in digestibility
by
rolling, crimping, etc (only about 5%) is outweighed by the decrease in
shelf life for having broken the outer hull of the grain.
********************************
I am feeding this mix done in a local mill with everything rolled, or
crimped or whatever-warped, BUT with one added attraction...... ROASTED.
According to the suppler, roasting makes the grain much more accessible
- absorbable FASTER, instead of passing through the first of the tummy
"loops" unnoticed. And it really smells good!! Kinda like popcorn.
And I tasted it today - yummmmm.
