You really can't let this one go, can you Heidi? And I know if I bite on it
you'll play the race card next. Don't think even this stupid redneck doesn't
see that one coming.

If you don't see the difference, there's really no hope of me getting through
to you with any "stupid" remarks I might be able to come up with. All I can
say is, please, re-read Randy's post on the subject. He explained it better
than I ever could.

I'll be out riding for quite awhile from now till the hot Florida summer
kicks in, so try not to miss me too much. TI has given me the incentive to
pick up the pace, since I plan on proving him quite wrong about me not
achieving a certain mark in endurance. I'll get that jacket yet. There's a
burn in my belly for this sport and I hope it never leaves. If I don't hit
that mark I feel quite certain my daughter will.

TI, one thing. You mentioned several riders who are at the top level, your
respect for them and that they are the ones who will make it happen. But I
didn't see the horse(s) mentioned and, to me, it's one of the differences in
our assessment of this sport. It really is the horse who wins the run (race
in Arabic), not the rider. Sure, the rider plans the run, makes sure the
horse shows up, feeds the horse, puts on the saddle, he/she does quite a
bit. But it's the horse who runs, and it's the horse who wins.

My Saddlebred will never win a big race. This I know. But he has taught me
so much about the sport, about life, about myself, he will be with me till
the day I die.

TI, don't be so quick to limit another rider in his/her goals with a sport
that means as much to them as it does to Val or any of the riders you seem to
have respect for. I may, one day, prove you wrong. And if I do, Kat's
taking notes.

cya,
Howard (just stay healthy, Tom. It doesn't happen overnight)
