I've had the same issues with two of my horses. The alfalfa is probably
making it worse. What I found that works is really dry, older hay. Hay
that is freshly cut makes the runs worse. Also, you may have a nervous,
stressed horse on your hands, even though he looks calm. My horse that has
loose manure has bitten his flanks before. Here are things that I found
that did not make manure looser and will put weight on:
Athlete by Purina Mills
Rice Bran
Beet Pulp
Corn Oil (it didn't make my horse looser even though you said it made yours
- was it corn oil or another kind of oil?)
Also, have you discussed this with your vet?
