Re: RE: nutrition and what we already know

O.K. Here we go.
First; the new improvements in the Omolenes basically are that the Fat
levels are higher and the sugar and Starch levels are lower. Purina is
constantaly doing research to better improve formulas and provide balanced
nutrition using Information from Purina's research and the Universitys
current research findings.
The Omolene 100 & 300 is now 4.5% fat compared to 3.5% fat, the Omolene 200
is now 6% fat compared to
the previous 4.5% fat. Basicaly the formulas were adjusted to swap calorie
sources. The Digestable energy has only changed from 1525 cal/lb to 1545 on
Omolene 100 & 300, and from 1600 to 1620 cal/ lb. Which is no big
difference. The purpose is to prove more calories form fats and less from
sugars and starches. The fiber content and sources has not changed. The
Vitamin E leavels have doubled to adjust for the higher fat content. Purina
has been working on these new formulas for several years, doing
digestability, palatability, & very specific physiology studies.

If you are looking for a beet Pulp based feed, then Complete Advantage is
what you should consider. It is 40% Beet pulp. 12.5% Protein, 3.5 % fat,
Digestable energy 1400 Cal /lb.

The reason the feed tags are so general is that Purina has 55 mills in the
United States, each mill will take advantage of local commidities. For
example: in California barley is more availabe than corn or oats that in the
midwest so the a small amount are swaped and the formula is adjusted. a 1%
change in a formula can lower the price to you 5%. All the ingredients are
tested at each mill with a NIR machine. The formulas are very specific if we
use less corn in the California formula we add more lysine, or whatever to
adjust so that the end product is nutritionaly the same.
Making feed tags for each product for each mill is impractical.
