       I feel that prevention is the most important factor.  Make sure your 
horses get that once a year.  As far as I know, Strangles spreading can be 
caused by flys landing on snot and then going to another horse.  Transfer of 
using the same water is only one of the ways.  You as a handler can transfer 
Strangles also.  So unless your stable is fly free, the chances of transfer 
is pretty good.  Horses can die from internal types of Strangles.  And this 
is a fact!
