Re: RC: RE: Re: Quest Reaction
And Kathy,
The same is true for Ivermectin. You can pay $13-15 for it in the horse
form, OR you can buy 50, 250, or 500ml of it (the 500 ml costing around
$250) in the subcutaneous injectable form for cattle and swine (I do not
mention this to my Arabians for obvious reasons ;-) )--- now called
Ultramectrin---DO NOT GET IVERMEC PLUS--HAS NOT-GOOD-FOR-HORSES THINGS
IN IT-- and give your horse 1cc/110 lbs of body weight (I give all mine
under 1000 lbs 10cc/horse--- even the foals as they tend to get worms
easier and the vet told me I will not overdose them with that) ORALLY
(once upon a time they gave ivermectin to horses subQ but had a few
reactions) and each worming costs me around $5 when I get the BIG 500ml
bottle.
I also give mine the SAFEGUARD in the cattle form with the "GUN". You
should have seen their eyes when they first saw that thing, but when
they figured out it wasn't going to hurt them, they are fine with it
now. Cost for BIG tube which treats 12,750 lbs (around 13 adult Arabs)
is $37 through Jeffers (one time charge for reusable gun is $12) which
brings per horse charge down to $3/horse or $6/day for the 5 day purge=
$30/horse total!!. Sure makes the "Panacur" purge MUCH more AFFORDABLE!
Have to figure out how to save a few pennies when you have a herd like
mine.
