Dr. Steve Mihok is a dedicated scientist working to educate
people like us and keep us informed on ways to combat these 
blood sucking vampires that torment our horses.
Anyone out there that rides the Elk Valley Ride (NE)would
NEVER come back again if the flies we have there from July
on were there during the ride. For some reason last year
the "biters" had subsided for the ride, but when they are there
they come in vast swarms and cover anything with a pulse.
There are horses up there that will drop 50-100 lbs and almost
die from being stressed stomping and getting their blood
drained all day long. NO topical application works. No sprays
that are supposed to kill flies work. Fly predators only work on 
common house flies...However this trap Dr. Mihok invented
sure is promising.. Check out his site...pretty KEWL!
