stud fees, etc

I just started advertising our stallion for breeding and wondered whether the 
stud fee is usually paid up front or after the foal is born? We will have a 
live foal guarantee, a written contract and require a coggins for the mare. 
Also approved (by us) mares only, I want good foals, not mass production. Am 
I forgetting anything? (Except that he's very nice but unproven and he might 
not get to breed anything this year!)
