i was in a local feed store last fall when a neighbor was testing their
horse for EPM (it wasn't it but horse sure had the symptoms) and the owner
was joking about an opossum getting into the back of the store and chewing
cat food bags open etc.  said he hated to shoot it.  well, duh, he didn't
even know the opossum was the primary carrier for EPM and it was all over
the hay etc being sold for horses.
