Try introducing it to the horse AFTER you have ridden and maybe he will be
less energetic. Try to approach it like it is a buggie man and go slowly.
I use a folding stepstool I got at walmart. I can take it with me when I go
to rides, etc. Equus had an article about the pressure put onto the
withers of horses during the mounting and it is a lot. It is supposed to be
good to alternate sides as well.... but it sure takes some concentration to
do it!! My instructor said it helps prevent lameness to use a mounting
