Re: Re: Helmets
I can resist no longer - gotta get in on this soap opera. How many of you
consistently wear your helmets when you work around horses on the ground?
Oregon did a study on animal related fatalities over a 10 year period ending
sometime in the 90's. Approximately 50% of the horse related fatalities
occured while the deceased was not riding the horse - the report I read did
not state what they were doing. Interesting cow fatalities where greater
than horse fatalities - and then there was the guy who tripped over his
sleeping dog at the top of the stairs.
I must also concede that I haven't any idea to what degree fatalities (which
general don't cost society anywhere near as much as severe brain damage)
correlates with brain damage to a survivor, but I find it hard to imagine
what else is likely to relate in high fatality rates.
