advice needed

I need some advice from the Ridecampers... We are planning to do our first 50 
mile ride in February after a year of LD rides. There is a two day 25 mile 
ride 3 weeks before the 50 mile ride. Should we do a two day ride that close 
to our first 50 attempt?
