I'm  in New York City visiting my son for Christmas and staying at his empty fraternity house for the holidays with my daughter and one of our Cairo kids who is at Sarah Lawrence and got turfed out for the holidays.  Not exactly Cairo, but as Yasmine will be here with Nadim next year, I guess I'd better get used to the Big Apple as well as the Big Mango (as some have called our home base).  Yas asked why I didn't just go "nomail" for the duration, but I knew that as I'd have easy internet access, I'd want to be hearing from my usual gang of e-friends.  It's bad enough freezing outside, missing having three rat terriers and a corgi in bed at night, and missing the best riding weather that Egypt has during a period when enough people would be on holiday that I could actually RIDE! 

Year 2000 hasn't been the greatest for me or for many of my friends either, but, honestly without you all I don't know how I would have made it.  Here's hoping the next one's much better.
