Maria, You are absolutely correct, the breeding trends of recent decades have created a taller and larger Arab. It used to be that 14 hands was a large Arab and 15 hands, if you ever saw it, was a beast. Now we have larger Arabs (i.e. taller Arabs) that were breed with a total disregard for neck proportions as they relate to the increased height. As a result, we have tall Arabs that are forced to put one leg forward to reach the ground. That is why almost every tall Arab you see will be exhibiting some degree of High-Low Syndrome. Unless, of course, the breeder had the foresight to keep the neck proportionate to the height. They have maintain this size for over 3000 years and in the last 50 yrs people are trying to change that. I believe one of the reasons Arabians are natural born endurance horses is because they a smaller in stature and big on heart. Taller horses break down faster than smaller, again have you noticed that wild horses are always smaller?
