hot walkers for cool down?

I saw someone in AZ using a hot walker to cool down horses.  Basically they
rode, sprayed the horses down, and put them on the hot walker to walk until
they were dry.  Is this a good idea after conditioning rides during warm
weather?  It seemed to work well, and I am trying to decide if I want a hot
walker area at the barn I am building this spring.  I had just not heard
mention of anyone using them on this alias and wondered if there was a good
reason.
