Re: RC: Reno forever?
A job done half-way is not a job done well... as far as I am
concerned, the conventions back east were just fine. If
money was lost, blame it on broken promises, poor
advertising, poor promotion and poor planning.
You don't expect ANY trade show or convention (or even a new
ride) to be successful in a new location the first year
UNLESS extensive and proper planning is done.
Lexington was great for me (less than 3 hours away) and the
Kentucky Horse Park is a wonderful place to visit (among
other attractions in Lexington), but, as stated earlier, it
is NOT a hub for air traffic, hence is was more costly for
people to fly in.
The Atlanta snowstorm was a fluke... but I will say, most
all that were there had a good time. Atlanta is a good
possibility for the future (with proper planning)...so are a
great many other cities.
Bottom line, hire professionals to run the convention...that
is evidently NOT the expertise of the AERC office as has
been proven over the years.
